Hello, friends in this article we will learn how many bricks in 100 square feet? or you can say how many bricks in square feet? whenever we go to construct our house this situation definitely comes in front of us.
The solution to this question, I will describe to you briefly, this method works for all kinds of bricks and every country.
In this article, we will discuss how to calculate bricks in 1 sq. ft and 100 sq. ft. in a 4.5-inch brick wall as well as a 9-inch brick wall. We also calculate how much sand and cement will consume in a particular wall?
As we know that bricks are of many types and different sizes according to their demand like AAC block, Concrete block, Porotherm blocks, Redbrick, Fly ash brick, etc. So will calculate no. of bricks according to the Indian standard size.
Let's Proceed to How many bricks in one square feet
It's a simple and easy method to calculate brick in 1sq.ft. First, calculate the area of 1 brick and then divide the 1 sq. ft by a single brick area.
Let's take the example
Size of brick = 9" X 4.5" X3"
Size of brick with mortar = 9.5" X 5" ( Mortar thickness = 0.5 ")
Area of single brick = 9.5" X 5" = 47.5 sq. inch
Formula = 1 sq.ft. / 47.5 sq.inch ( 1 sq. ft. = 144 sq. inch)
= 144 / 47.5 = 3.031 bricks
Brick required in one square feet = 3 nos.
How many bricks in 100 square feet
These are the steps to calculate bricks in the wall
- Calculate the volume of a single brick with mortar.
- Calculate the volume of brickwork with mortar or wall.
- Divide the brickwork by a single brick area with mortar
For example
We have given the size of brick 9" x 4.5" x 3" calculate how many bricks required for 10 x 10 wall? The wall thickness is 4.5" inch. Use a thickness of mortar is 0.5"
Now,
Volume of brick = 9" x 4.5" x 3 = 121.5 cu. inch
Volume of brick with mortar = 9.5" x 5" x 3.5 = 166.25 cu.inch = 0.0942 cu.ft ( 1 inch = 0.083 ft )
Volume of wall = 10 x 10 x 0.375 = 37.5 cu. ft. ( 4.5" = 0.375 ft.)
No. of bricks in wall = Volume of wall / Volume of one brick with mortar
= 37.5 / 0.0942 = 398.089 bricks.
Bricks required in the 9-inch brick
Volume of brick = 9" x 4.5" x 3 = 121.5 cu. inch
Volume of brick with mortar = 9.5" x 5" x 3.5 = 166.25 cu.inch = 0.0942 cu.ft ( 1 inch = 0.083 ft )
The thickness of the wall = 9"
Volume of wall = 10 x 10 x 0.75 = 75 cu. ft. ( 4.5" = 0.375 ft.)
No. of bricks in wall = Volume of wall / Volume of one brick with mortar
= 75 / 0.0942 = 796.17 bricks.
9-inch brick wall construction cost
For the calculation of wall construction cost, we should aware of the rate of all material, labor cost, and miscellaneous expenditure.
We already know
Brick required in 10 x10 = 796 nos.
Price of one brick = Rs.5/-
Total price of brick = 798 x 5 = 3980/-
How much cement and sand required for 10 x10 walls if the thickness of the wall is 9 inches?
As we already know
No. of brick required in 10 x10 walls = 796
Single rick volume with mortar = 166.25 sq.inch = 0.0942 cu.ft
Volume of total brick with mortar = 796 x 0.0942 = 74.92 cu.ft.
Volume of single brick without mortar = 9" x 4.5" x 3 = 121.5 cu. inch
Volume of total brick without mortar = 796 x 121.5 = 96714 cu.inch = 55.96875 cu.ft
Sand required in brickwork = volume of bricks with mortar - Volume of brick without mortar
= 74.92 - 55.968 = 18.952 cu.ft.
Volume of mortar = 18.952 cu.ft.
The quantity of sand which we get is in the wet form to find out in dry state multiply the sand with 1.33.
Dry volume of sand = 18.952 x 1.33 = 25.20 cu.ft
Cement required
As we know that the ratio of cement sand for brickwork 1: 4 is used for 4-inch thick brick wall and 1: 6 is used for 9-inch thick wall
Cement sand ratio for 9-inch brick wall = 1: 6
Sum of ratio = 1 + 6 = 7
Cement required for brickwork = volume of mortar x ratio of cement/sum of the ratio
= 0.536 x 1 x 1440 / 7 = 110.26 k.g ( density of cement = 1440kg/cu.m)
Weight of one bag cement = 50 k.g
Total required bag for brick work = 110.26 / 50 = 2.20 bags.
Labor cost (2 Mason + 2 Labor) = Rs. 2200
Material required for brickwork 10 x 10 sq. ft.
Bricks = 769 nos.
Cement = 2.20 or 3 bag
Sand = 25.20 cu.ft
9-inch wall Construction cost
Brick cost ₹3980 (Rs of 1 brick ₹5/-), Cement cost ₹1200 ( Rate of 1 bag ₹400/- ), Sand cost ₹1386 ( Rate of sand ₹55/ cu.ft ) and Labor charge ₹2200
The total estimate for construction of a 9-inch wall = ₹8766
Include the 5% of wastage and other expanses = 8766 x 5% = 438.3
Grand total = ₹9204
